Mexican American Scholarship

The Instituto de Culturas Hispanics is offering a $2,000 scholarship for the coming 2015-2016 Academic year. Here are the requirements: The scholarship will be awarded to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi student(s) studying a Hispanic-related field such as Spanish Language; Spanish Literature; Latin-American History; Latin-American Art; Bilingual Education; Multicultural Education; International Studies with an emphasis on Hispanic countries (relations, marketing, economics, etc.). Eligible applicants will have graduated from one of the following high schools: Calallen, Carroll, Flour Bluff, IWA, King, Miller, Moody, Ray, Tuloso-Midway, or West Oso. The applicant must demonstrate financial need, be registered as a full or part-time student, maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, and utilize the scholarship towards tuition, and/or books. The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient continues to meet all of the criteria.

Moore Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (MURAP) is a paid summer fellowship designed to foster the entrance of talented students from diverse backgrounds within the humanities, social sciences, and fine arts into graduate school and faculty positions in U.S. colleges and universities. More broadly, the program seeks to increase the presence in graduate school and eventually in academic ranks of minorities and others who demonstrate a commitment to diversity. The program serves the related goals of providing role models for all youth and structuring campus environments so that they will be more conductive to improved racial and ethnic relations. MURAP aims to achieve its mission by identifying and supporting students of great promise and help them to become scholars of the highest distinction. For more information please click here.
