Welcome to the Department of Psychology & Sociology!
We’re excited about your interest in our programs and hope that you’ll find your learning experience in our department both rewarding and enjoyable.
Our mission is to engage students by providing them with a comprehensive and diverse learning experience that creates a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of human behavior and social interaction.
As the largest department in the College of Liberal Arts, we offer undergraduate degrees in both Psychology and Sociology, as well as minors in Social Work and Women and Gender Studies. We also offer a master’s degree in Psychology with a clinical emphasis.
Our diverse faculty have a longstanding tradition of dynamic student mentoring, including research experiences which allow students to showcase their work at department symposia and conferences across the United States and prepare them to pursue advanced graduate degrees in a variety of areas.
An undergraduate degree from our department prepares students to work in a variety of community settings, including social service agencies, human resource departments and mental health treatment programs. Our master’s program is one of the most well established at the university, training students to work as mental health professionals in a variety of clinical settings.
You can follow the department by checking out our Facebook page, or you can also browse our website for additional information about individual programs and faculty teaching and research interests.
Wishing you success with all your educational choices.
