Professor of Communication

Dr. Kelly Quintanilla is the President at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She also received her master’s degree in communication from Pennsylvania State University and her Ph.D. in communication from the same university in 1994.

Dr. Quintanilla joined Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi faculty the same year she obtained her doctoral degree. She served as the chair of the Department of Communication and Theatre, and later became the dean of the College of Liberal Arts in 2009. She was also the director of the School of Arts, Media and Communication. 

Over the last 21 years, Dr. Quintanilla has taught courses in Business and Professional Communication, Organizational Communication, Public Relations, Public Speaking, and Teamwork and Leadership. She has also presented nationwide on topics related to communication and continuous improvement in work environments. Her book Business and Professional Communication: Keys to Workplace Excellence, has recently gone into its third edition.

Dr. Quintanilla previously worked as a consultant and corporate trainer in the Coastal Bend area with numerous clients including CHRISTUS Spohn, Corpus Christi Army Depot, the City of Corpus Christi, the Corpus Christi Independent School District, HEB, The Port, and the YWCA. Throughout the duration of her career, Dr. Quintanilla has been recognized for her leadership skills. She has received diverse awards for her advising, service, scholarship, and teaching excellence. 

An active member in the Corpus Christi community, Dr. Quintanilla has served as a board member for the Art Museum of South Texas, the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, and the Harbor Playhouse.
