Common Questions

  How do I register?
In order to register you meet with a faculty advisor within your major discipline and decide which courses you need to take. You will then register by phone , by walk-in registration, or on the University Web site via SAIL, the Student Academic Information Link

What is the residency requirement?

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi requires that you have at least 35 semester hours on campus. Twelve of these must be in your major. We also require that 24 of the last 30 hours be here on campus.

How do I plan my degree program?

In the middle of your first semester or when you have earned 30 hours, you will need to either schedule an appointment with your degree counselor or fill out a degree plan request form.

Who is my advisor?

When your degree plan is created you will be assigned a faculty advisor from your discipline. Before this, you may see any faculty member in your discipline.

Do I need to complete a foreign language?

All students who wish to earn an undergraduate degree in the College--excluding the BFA and the BM--must demonstrate a certain level of proficiency in a single non-artificial foreign language before graduation. One may demonstrate proficiency in one four ways:

1. having finished at least three years of single foreign language in high school with grades of "B" or better in the third year.

2. passing the A&M-Corpus Christi oral proficiency exam (by appointment).

Note: Fulfilling college foreign language requirements through the above measures will not earn the student any college semester credit hours.

3. earning a CLEP score equivalent to one year of language study at A&M-Corpus Christi.

4. successfully completing two semesters of a single foreign language at the University.

I think I'm ready to graduate. What do I do now?

The semester before you graduate you must meet with your degree counselor for graduation clearance. This is just to review your degree plan to make sure of what you are still lacking, to check that these courses will be offered and to verify that you have the grade point average necessary to be eligible. You must have at least a 2.0 in your major, in residence, and cumulative. The next step is to apply for graduation at the Registrar's Office.
